iced tea in three different ways

Sloane Iced Tea, Three Ways

After what felt like the longest winter, it’s finally here at long last: Summer! With June 21st, Canada Day and cottage weekends just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to cool off as the heat turns up.

One of the best things about the wide world of tea is the versatili-tea (no pun intended). There are so many different ways to enjoy tea, whether it’s herbal, oolong, matcha, or anywhere in between, and we especially love experimenting with different ways to serve Sloane on ice!

The two most basic ways to make an iced tea are fairly simple - you either cold steep overnight in the fridge and remove the tea in the morning, or hot steeping a concentrated amount of tea to be shaken with or poured over ice. While both of these traditional methods are utilized in our recipes below, we got a bit more experimental and put our own unique twist on each recipe.

Whether you’re putting together a pitcher for a party (these recipes make great non-alcoholic options) or steeping up a single serving for yourself, you can count on any of these three options to make your summer much sweeter!

  1.  Steep 3 teaspoons of Crimson Berry in 6 oz boiling water for 6 minutes.
  2. Remove tea leaves (or bags) and stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar, allow to cool.
  3. Pour the tea into an ice cube tray and let freeze overnight.
  4. Add 3-4 of these cubes to ginger ale or sparkling water for a refreshing tea-infused soda!
  5. Garnish with fresh berries or lemon slices to serve.

Jasmine and Honey Iced Tea

A sweet and refreshing infusion of jasmine and honey, two of our favourite things!

  1. Steep 3 teaspoons (or 2-3 tea sachets) of Jasmine Mist in 6 oz of water just below boiling for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Remove tea leaves (or sachets) and stir in 2 tablespoons of your favourite honey. We love Summer Honey from Kitten and the Bear.
  3. Allow to cool and pour over a tall glass of ice!

Cold Steeped Marrakesh Mint Infusion

Stay cool with this refreshing herbal infusion!

  1. Fill a pitcher with cold water, slice lemons and limes and add to the pitcher.
  2. If you’re using loose Marrakesh Mint tea, add 3-4 teaspoons of tea to a Sloane Filter  Alternatively, use 2-3 tea sachets. Place the tea sachets directly in the cold water, allowing the tags to hang over the top.
  3. Place in the fridge and allow to cold-steep overnight. If you’d like to sweeten your mint tea, combine equal parts sugar and boiling water to form a thin simple syrup.
  4. Enjoy with fresh mint leaves on a hot summer day!
